Nepal Rugby Association(NRA), Established on January 29, 1992, and registered, recognized and certified by the National Sports Council in 1995 as it's 37 number. The NRA held its first general assembly and election on May 14, 2012 and, as part of its re-organisation, has set up a number of regional and district associations in its bid to develop the game among the country’s population of 27 million.
2nd General Assembly and Election held on 21st Sept 2013. In Nepal, the first national rugby tournament was held as recently as January 2014, and this laid the foundation for Nepal’s first national (7s) sides coming into being. NRA got affiliated in Asia Rugby on 31st may 2014 as an associate member. 3rd General Assembly and Election held on 14th sept 2014.
The Nepal men’s squad — selected to a great extent on the basis of performance at this national tournament — then toured New Delhi in November 2014, playing club sides, such as the Delhi Hurricanes, to pave the way for the country’s international debut.
The General Council of Asia Rugby voted for Nepal to be awarded associate membership at its meeting in Bangkok in 2014.
Consequently, the proud moment for Nepal rugby: the country’s national 7s men’s and women’s
teams then registered their debut on the world stage in 2015 at the ‘Asia Rugby Development Sevens’ in Chennai. Later in 2016, Our 7s men’s and women’s
team participated Pre-Olympic Qualifier Tournament
2017 became tremendous success for Nepal rugby as national 7s men’s
team participated in Asia Rugby Men's 7s Trophy
in Doha, Qatar in Feb.
